Trying to Muster Up Some Motivation

Well, looks like I need to start this count over again! The only workouts I have actually made in the past two weeks are a soccer game each week, and a soccer practice each week for my rec league. I did go for a 10 minute jog with my dog, Jackson, after mowing the grass on Saturday, but we both quickly wore out. I need to quit being so lazy and find the urge to run again. It always takes me a few runs to get back into the swing of things, where the run really feels good again. I need to suffer through a weeks worth of runs to get back to that happp place that I have missed so much...

Day 2: Soccer Game

Since I did not work out on Tuesday, I am not really sure if this will count of Day 2 or 3 of my return to fitness. I guess I will go with two. I didn't do an actual run today, but I played on my co-ed soccer team. While this is different than going for a four-mile run, I do count it for a day of intervals/speed work, because it is basically sprints for 90 minutes (granted it is 90 minutes of continuous sprinting). We ended up even with the other team, 2-2.

My body is definitely taking some time getting used to working out again. Yesterday I could hardly walk. That body pump class definitely worked! I plan on going again Friday on my lunch break.

Day 1: Return to Running

Yesterday I attempted to run for the first time in over a month. I did the four mile loop of the lakes, and it...was...painful. It took me 45+ minutes to complete a run that usually takes me somewhere around 35. I ran for the first 14 or so minutes, and then switched to intervals, running for around three minutes and walking for one-two. My excuses include that my I-Pod broke 10 minutes into the run, and that it was 90 something degrees, but the truth is that I am just out of shape. I also did the body sculpting class at the Y during my lunch break, so I fully am expecting to not be able to make it up the stairs at work tomorrow. But at least I have returned to working out with a bang.

I have already signed up to run the St. Jude Half Marathon in Memphis in December, so I had better get back into running now!
